Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the most common questions asked by your fellow residents
1. WHAT CAN I DO IF I FAIL A COMMUNITY INSPECTION? The HOA inspection process involves several validation steps. First the Architecture Committee submits their findings to all Board members. Second the findings are verified and voted on by all members. The HOA Board will then send you a letter on their decision. If you receive a letter from the HOA Board on a failure you will also be given a suitable amount of time to correct the problem. The HOA Board will conduct a secondary inspection at the time allotted in the letter and if resolved the matter will be closed. If there are circumstances preventing you from resolving the issue or if you disagree with the findings, please immediately contact the HOA Board. Failure to resolve an issue may result in unintended fines or legal action.
2. WHERE CAN I GET A NEW MAILBOX?
Residents who are up to date on their HOA fees are authorized a replacement mailbox per the conditions stated in the community bylaws. If your mailbox is damaged, please submit a
Home Alteration Request and select the “request a replacement mailbox” option. A member of the Architecture Committee will inspect your mailbox and contact you to provide you with a replacement.
3. WHY IS THE HOA WAITING SO LONG TO DO SNOW REMOVAL?
Our landscaping service is contracted to do snow removal on our streets when the snow exceeds 4 inches. However, since our streets are publicly owned by Anne Arundel County, the
county may do snow removal if resources are available. Snow removal cost can be expensive, and the increased cost will directly increase each of our annual HOA fees. Therefore, as a general, rule to keep our HOA fees low, the HOA will call the county first and reserve the use of the landscaping services for significant snowfalls. Generally, the HOA Architecture team does an inspection of your individual street during a storm and reports back to the HOA Board whether the landscaping snow removal service is needed. If you notice no action has been taken on the community streets during a snowstorm, please feel free to contact your HOA staff.
4. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT A PARKING HAZARD?
Whether its reckless driving or vehicles parked illegally in a manner obstructing traffic or creating hazards its best to leave that matter to the Police. Residents should contact the
Anne Arundel County Police non-emergency line at (410) 222-8610 to enforce traffic and parking laws. All residents are also encouraged to read and understand the Maryland laws governing parking and traffic in our community which can be found under the
Parking tab of this website.
5. WHY IS THE LANDSCAPING COMPANY CUTTING A PART OF MY LAWN?
The landscaping company maintains the grass in the public areas, the playground and portions of lawn near the curb after the sidewalk. They should not be cutting your main lawn. If you have a problem with their services please notify the HOA staff.
6. WHEN ARE HOA FEES DUE AND WHERE DO I MAIL IT?
HOA bills are mail to residents in February of each year and are due by March each year. Payments should be made to “SpringRidge HOA” and mailed to P.O. Box 1390 Glen Burnie, MD. 21060. Alternatively payments can also be mailed via Zelle. See your billing invoice for more information or contact the HOA.
7. WHY IS THE HOA PUTTING UP NO PARKING SIGNS IN THE COMMUNITY?
The SpringRidge HOA is “
NOT” putting up parking signs in the community. The roads in our community are owned by Anne Arundel county so the HOA has no authority to install any signs. Any resident in the county who observes a safety issue i.e., malfunctioning stop light, blocked roadways etc., has the right as a citizen to independently call the
county and request a safety inspection. When this occurs, the
county is obligated to conduct a safety investigation and may implement additional safety measures such as “No Parking” signs. As with the right of any resident, the HOA, may on behalf of the community, request the
county do a full safety inspection. This makes sense, because it consolidates complaints into one request and minimizes the county receiving multiple complaints from our residents.
8. WHAT CAN I DO IF I LOST MY PET OR NOTICE TOO MANY STRAY ANIMALS IN THE COMMUNITY?
If you lost your pet or notice an increase of stray animals call Anne Arundel County Animal control. The county maintains a list of lost animals found and may also provide assistance in catching stray animals. The county may install traps or may loan you a trap to use. If you do decide to remove stray animals yourself, be extremely careful because many
stray animals may carry diseases such as rabies. For more details, please call
Anne Arundel County Animal Control at (410) 222-8900.
9. WHY DID I RECEIVE A FRONT FOOT UTILITY BILL FROM CATTAIL CONSTRUCTION?
When SpringRidge was built in 2004 Anne Arundel county installed sewage lines and charged the Cattail builders an installation fee. In turn the builders levied these costs upon the residents as front foot fees. This fee is equivalent to $600.00 per year per resident for 30 years after the home is built. Front foot fees are generally assessed in the June timeframe so residents should expect to see these bills each year.
